Swof Media has joined the Great Midlands Fun Run as its new web & digital media partner.

Swof Media was created by Steve Swoffer in 2011 and now employs a team of six at its Spencer Street offices in the heart of Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter.

Steve explained: “I was initially approached by a fellow BNI member, Andy Perks from InkTree, at one of our weekly networking sessions, as to whether we would be interested in becoming a commercial partner with the Fun Run.

“I’d been considering ways of Swof Media becoming involved in supporting a charitable organisation or project so this appeared to be an interesting opportunity.

“Andy is passionate about the Fun Run raising thousands every year for his chosen charity and having met Fun Run Event Director, Tracey Spare, at the back end of last year, I knew we could help and offer support in our area of expertise, namely web design and development alongside digital marketing.”

Fun Run Event Director, Tracey Spare said: “Circumstances had forced me to look for a new web/digital media partner for the Fun Run, so Andy Perks’ intervention was very timely and I’m delighted to welcome Swof Media as a new commercial partner.

“I basically said to Steve, start with a blank sheet of paper and create a website which reflects the ‘Fun’ side of the event with one caveat – it needs to be easy to navigate. It needs to look appealing, perform well, encourage visitors to participate and promote the event.”

“My face lit up when I saw the initial visuals for the site in early January and Steve and his team have certainly fulfilled the brief with our new web site and new web address greatmidlandsfunrun.org

“In my view, the fact that Swof Media work alongside many schools to help develop their web sites, as schools now need to provide information in a clear and accessible way and the quality of the school website in achieving this, is examined during OFSTED inspections, has helped them reflect the Fun and diverse age range and abilities of entrants who participate in the event.

“As the web site is such a key element of the marketing mix, it will continue to evolve over the coming weeks and months.

“Steve and his team are also going to help with our social media profile and we have now started a strategic advertising campaign across Facebook and twitter to not only reach a wider audience but also attract new entrants and increase our followers on both platforms.”

Registration for this year’s event on Sunday, 4th June will close when all 7000 place shave been filled or Friday, 24th March, whichever events occurs first.
