Fun Run ‘Opens the Roof’ on New Main Sponsor
One of the longest running and successful annual charity fundraising events in the midlands has confirmed a new commercial partnership with a major automotive supplier.
The Great Midlands Fun Run has confirmed Webasto, the world market leader in the supply of innovative sunroofs, thermo solutions and e-mobility to the automotive industry, has agreed to become a joint main sponsor.
Florian Heilmeier, managing director of Webasto Roof Systems Ltd, located in Minworth on the outskirts of the royal town said: “Webasto have had a presence in Sutton Coldfield since 1982 when our headquarters were located opposite Holy Trinity Church at the top of Sutton Coldfield on the start/finish straight of the fun run course. We currently employ over 400 people at our manufacturing facility in Minworth and have always been conscious of our social responsibility to employees and the community in which we operate.
“Our partnership with the Great Midlands Fun Run will not only deliver financial support to a successful and longstanding event but will also provide us with an ideal vehicle to publicise our employee wellbeing programme, as well as raising funds for charity.”
Tracey Spare, event director of the Great Midlands Fun Run said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Webasto Roof Systems Ltd as a new joint main sponsor of the event.
“Private sector investment is vital in underwriting the costs of staging the event, which in turn generates significant sums of money for charities and voluntary organisations chosen by those who participate. I look forward to this being the start of a long term relationship with Webasto.
“Securing a commercial partnership with a world market leader is a huge boost for the Fun Run not only in terms of their direct sponsorship support.
“As a major local employer with over 400 staff at its Minworth site, we hope many of them will choose to participate whether they walk, jog or run the 8.5 miles and enjoy a great day with family, friends and work colleagues while raising money for charity.”
