A local estate agents and Supporting Sponsor of one of the The Great Midlands Fun Run, has registered a team of 50 for this year’s event, which will be staged on Sunday, 2 June.
Nigel Deekes of Acres said: “We’re thrilled to have another large team participating in this year’s event and continuing to raise money for our chosen charity Motor Neurone Disease Association [MNDA].
“Our team comprises employees, family & friends from our offices in Sutton Coldfield, Four Oaks, Wylde Green & Great Barr. The 8.5 mile course is certainly a challenge for most of the team and ‘Cardiac Hill’ never seems to get any easier.
“Life is about setting yourself goals and challenges. Ours is to ensure all of our team members enjoy their day, complete the course safely and Acres raises more money for Motor Neurone Disease Association, a charity close to our hearts, to add to the £20,000 we’ve raised for MNDA over the last four years.”
Acres has set up an online JustGiving page if you would like to make a donation www.justgiving.com/fundraising/acres2019.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order.
Although there is currently no cure for MND, symptoms can be managed to help people living with MND achieve the best possible quality of life.
Roger Leek, Chair Birmingham & Solihull Motor Neurone Disease Association [MNDA] said: “We are indebted to the team from Acres Estate Agents, which has raised over £20,000 for MNDA in recent years. The money raised by them, through participation in the Great Midlands Fun Run, has supported those diagnosed with MND across the whole of the Midlands, from the Welsh Marches to Rutland Water.
“To learn more about MND you can visit our web site www.mndassociation.org or phone our helpline free 0808 802 6262.”
Registration for this year’s Great Midlands Fun Run will close when all 6500 places have been filled or Monday, 25th March – a week on Monday.
