The 2020 [18th] Great Midlands Fun Run was originally postponed [31st May] and, with the ongoing government restrictions on the staging of mass participation events, the rescheduled  event, 20th September, was inevitably cancelled.

Five sample 2020 Great Midlands Fun Run medals were produced ahead of full production – full production fortunately did not proceed.
Four of those samples have been allocated – one each with the medal sponsor Cookes Furniture and smt Merchandise Limited [Lichfield], who designed the medal, and two with the Fun Run.

That leaves one remaining medal.

We approached Richard Winterton Auctioneers Ltd to ask if they would consider auctioning the one remaining 2020 Great Midlands Fun Run medal to raise money for charity.

They very kindly agreed to waive all charges and commission, to allow all money raised through the auction to be distributed to charity.

Next Monday, 14 September, coincidently the date of the first Great Midlands Fun Run in 2003, Lichfield based Richard Winterton Auctioneers will put one 2020 Great Midlands Fun Run medal under the hammer with 100% of the proceeds being donated to charity.

This is quite simply a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity to own a unique piece of Fun Run memorabilia.

The Fun Run ethos has always been to enable participants to raise money for a charity or voluntary organisation of their choice, so we will continue the spirit of the event and enable the successful bidder to choose a charity or voluntary organisation of their choice, with one proviso – that the chosen charity or voluntary organisation is located in Royal Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth, Walsall or Erdington.

The auction will be held online-only live from The Lichfield Auction Centre – Richard Winterton Auctioneers has been conducting all sales behind closed doors due to Covid-19 and no members of the public are permitted to attend at the auction centre.
