This morning’s auction of  one 2020 Great Midlands Fun Run medal – one of just five sample medals to be manufactured – attracted a top bid of £320.

Richard Winterton Auctioneers confirmed the sellers fee will be added to the total taking it close to £400. Following the ethos of the Fun Run, the successful bidder will choose a charity or voluntary groups of their choice to financially benefit.

Fun Run Event Director, Tracey Spare said: “I sat clapping the laptop as the total kept rising. It’s way beyond my expectations and it will be a wonderful gift for a local charity or voluntary group which will be selected by the successful bidder.

“I want to thank Richard Winterton for his wonderful support and Alex Keller for helping to make this happen.

“It was so disappointing to have to cancel this year’s Great Midlands Fun Run because of Covid-19 restrictions – the first time the annual event has not been staged since the first event in 1982 – but today’s auction is a small but very positive consolation.”
